Happy crafting,
Melissa
I am co-hosting a kids' craft table at a craft fair on the 17th and I wanted each round of kids to make a simple card and a treat bag! This one is Halloween themed and filled with what else-- candy corn! This next bag is super simple but requires some sponging and a stamp I carved using some tools from the art store (think old school linoleum cutting!) We decided to do two rounds of Halloween, one round of Thanksgiving and then a "Frozen" round... This one for Thanksgiving is fun because they get to use the Big Shot to emboss the bag and a circle punch! The final treat bag will hold those yummy melty mints and is "frozen" themed... It will allow them to learn how to cut a banner by hand-- super simple!! Do you have kids? Bring them by the Island Craft Guild show at the Omar Shriner Temple in Mt. Pleasant on October 17th! And if not-- you can make these too! Consider a private class-- I can even do it via Facebook!!

This month's Paper Pumpkin kit was so cute! I wasn't sure about it at first but I love the birch paper straws and with a yummy candle in them they will be great for the Island Crafters Fair on October 17th!! This was my add on project for my Paper Pumpkin subscribers! If you want to subscribe let me know-- it's easy to sign up at http://www.paperpumpkin.com And in October $2 of your new subscription goes to help fight breast cancer! I made a few other cute treat holders for the craft fair! This ghost from last year came out great with the BOO from this year! This one is also a combo of the new and old! We had fun last weekend making the Witch's Hat decor piece! We also made three cards from the leftovers and still had tons leftover... Unfortunately the kit is sold out now... But we had fun!! Look at the cute treat bags that my friend Angie Watts made for our team swap! Happy fall and happy crafting!!! Hugs, Melissa I can't believe it's been almost a month since I blogged! Wow! What a month! We had visitors from out of town (Gigi and Grandpa) for one week, vacation in Denver for one week, Marianne's first week of 1st grade and then my first week of the college students back! Whew! I haven't even had much of a chance to play with my holiday catalog goodies but I will tomorrow morning and post ASAP! You can order from the holiday catalog starting Tuesday!! For now though-- here is a cute set of cards for my Masks & Washi Tape class tomorrow! The bag is going to hold five small notecards and envelopes! All using the Bohemian paper-- which at first I wasn't sure about but I love it now! This one uses a post it note to mask the hello tab area! I used Blackberry bliss with a dauber and kind of streaked or dragged the dauber across the mask... This one I also used a sponge dauber on-- it gives a more clean and precise look with the mask. And I love the Tin of Cards stamp set to add the birthday to this happy card!! This one heavily highlights all the cool Washi tape! And this one features a holiday catalog item-- the ribbon!! Gorgeous! And I felt like one fall card was necessary plus this mask really reminds me of corn!! Very fall! Hope you like these cards! Let me know if you have any questions or want a catalog!! Happy crafting, Melissa Well it all starts in Salt Lake City! Beautiful area to fly into! I, of course, brought pillow treats for my roommates all week long-- yummy mints, jelly candies, lemon candies, and chocolate covered sunflower seeds! Don't you want to room with me? I was excited to spend quality time with my sorority sister and upline, Angie Watts! And even more excited to see the new holiday catalog!!!! September-December is my favorite time of year-- I love everything about it-- football, fall leaves, cooler temps, schools back in session, new school supplies, craft opportunities, gift giving opportunities, soup... Yummy! Look at this adorable home decor kit in he new catalog!!!! I'm making one for sure and would love to have a class at your place to do it! And these bags that look like candy corn? Couldn't be easier-- with Washi tape handles!! And this fall card, gorgeous! Everyone loves Prize Patrol-- where if they call out your color-- You win that stamp set!! Candy, our fearless leader, was pretty excited to win Acorny Thank You! Our entire team won something this year! And the funniest moment was when they called out a color and NO ONE HAD IT! Hysterical! We were up to some shenanigans-- that's for sure... Invading sets! Taking pictures with the props... And maybe pilfering some chocolates?? Christmas is by far my favorite and this Cardinal is just calling my name! So was this sushi at Naked Fish. Plus we are a Blue Lemon three times??? So tasty! I highly recommend them both! I love that Pam Morgan and Bonnie Farley have such great senses of humor! They truly crack me up! Here's part of the team in another Christmas set! Seriously-- we had so much fun! I love our team and I love spending time with them during the summer! I laughed so hard my stomach cramped two nights in a row! And I came home inspired and motivated! You should really consider joining my team! We will have so much fun together! I'm about to institute monthly email projects to my team members and quarterly team trainings! Message me for details and happy crafting, Melissa Convention was awesome! But who knew that one of the highlights would be a private class afterwards by Dee Tollaksen and Barbara Pisciotto on Bible Art Journaling and how to host a class on this cool topic! I have wanted a way to dive back into the Bible and have tried a few different creative devotional activities but the concept of painting and drawing inside my Bible was foreign to me! I bought the recommended Journaling Bible and took it with me but was afraid to touch it (and mess it up)... Their session gave me the permission to dive in, express my faith, read and understand the word better, and tap into my creative side! So below is my first attempt-- using a mask, sponge dauber, and ink mixed with white craft ink! Add a journaling pen and done! This was the kit we received at the class and it had everything we needed to get started plus continue to inspire us! We got a PL journaling pen, 2 rolls of Washi tape, ink refill, craft white ink refill, candy dots, PL journaling cards, pencil, and a spritzer. The "gift card" was used to push paint around the pages-- so cool!! I love this verse and it was so nice for them to give us this gorgeous book mark! I look forward to using this as inspiration for making my pages around this verse... This cute little flash card set will come in handy for writing down verses to memorize! Additionally, I think it would make a cute "study break" activity for Cougar Countdown during final exam period for the college students! This was the cute bag for our treats! This was one of Dee's pages... This was one of Barbara's pages... And his was one of Dana's pages-- a guest presenter... What a wonderful class! I felt my bucket filling the whole time and I came back with personal passion and a concept for a class I could host... Happy crafting, Melissa A few weeks ago was Teacher Appreciation Week at Marianne's school! Thankfully they had the whole week planned out for us... The first day was a thank you note and we used this past month's Paper Pumpkin kit! Day 2 was "bring a flower from your garden"! We don't have a garden anymore since we moved to an apartment so I thought making these cupcake liner pencils were a great alternative project! I was happy to use SU! washi tape on the pencils! Washi tape is tough for me to use (confession) as I just don't instinctually gravitate toward it... Day 3 was to bring a drawing in and Marianne made this cute one on my phone! Day 4 was a "healthy treat" and I'm sure dark chocolate blueberries count, right? The last day was a present so I made some boxes from leftover Sale-a-bration paper which fit the apple notepads great!! Hopefully her teachers loved everything and I know I had fun using all my Stampin' Up! supplies to make them!! Happy crafting, Melissa Storing all the stamps I have collected from Paper Pumpkin (since June 2013!) has been challenging! I used SU's DVD stamp storage cases for a while but I wanted something a bit more organized! Using our clear envelopes and some old cardstock scraps I tucked each set in a sleeve and labeled them-- thank goodness for Google! Then on the back of each I taped a piece of the original instructions (if I kept them)! Then I put them in chronological order and saw how long I've been subscribing The latest additions are March's Sew You kit which included fun yellow embroidery! And my extra project to my subscribers is this cute gift card enclosure! I always like to feature some of our catalog coordinating products! This month's add on project was two bookmarks with the Ornate Tag Topper punch and Petal Potpourri plus the Hello Honey stitched satin ribbon (on sale this week!) All of this to say-- why aren't you subscribing? Pick me as your demonstrator by May 10th and get May's surprise box! Http://www.paperpumpkin.com Remember, if you like past kits you can only get them if you subscribe! Happy crafting, Melissa So our team (Southern Sweet Stampers) is continuing their daily art challenge for the month of April and I'm doing my best to keep up!! First, the wreath we made in my class from the bouquet kit in the occasions catalog!!! Then a pretty and simple card made from the Painted Petals DSP and the stamp set that coordinates with the bouquet kit! Then a simple make and take single stamp card for a college student event next week-- it's part of a de-stress week during final exams called Cougar Countdown! Then a hand colored card for a colleague who is fighting breast cancer! And the Purse Tote from Terri Gaines that we will be making in my class next week! I'll post some directions next week so stay tuned!!! But if you are local-- come to class! It includes four notecards! And would make a great Mother's Day gift! Happy crafting! Melissa Guess what??? Stampin' Up! is offering free shipping through Friday!!!! Such a great time to be crafting! And this month my team (Sweet Southern Stampers) has challenged us to create art every day and post it on our team Facebook page! I realized that I was creating but not sharing it with you all... So Day 1 is made with the Berry Basket Die, Painted Blooms DSP, Garden Stakes set, and Starbucks gift card Day 2 is a pretty bookmark made with the Sheltered Tree and Painted Petals stamp sets plus some Blackberry Bliss twine! Day 4 is my add on project for my Paper Pumpkin subscribers!!! I love Calypso Coral!! Seriously. And I love all the geometric prints in this card...
