There is nothing like a masculine theme to scare the pants off of me! Seriously, this has been my crafting nemesis. I just end up adding some sort of ribbon or shiny thing and boom. No longer masculine. I do follow my fellow College of Charleston buddy Brian King so that I can hope to learn and absorb his clean cut style... But, I think this month, I actually nailed it!
My card was a CASE (Copy and Share Everything) from the new annual catalog. I LOVE the new Rooted in Nature stamp set, so I knew I wanted to make a more masculine card with it for our team meeting this month. I also knew that I wanted to showcase how to make a quick watercolor wash on Shimmery White cardstock. I am always surprised at how many demonstrators haven't tried this technique before...

I used Mint Macaron (not macaroon) and Crumb Cake to make the wash and then Soft Suede and Old Olive for the stamped images. The tree is a Monterey Pine and remind me of Pebble Beach-- where my husband and I visited during the trip to California when we got engaged! The beautiful leaf paper is from the Share What You Love Suite that is the special pre-order this month for customers from the June 1 Annual Catalog!!!
Now for the 3D project I admit, I was stymied. But then, I remembered the sentiment "stay strong" from the Rooted in Nature stamp set. My sweet husband is having a procedure done next Friday and I think I will slip a note and a sweet treat in here for him... Just so he knows that I acknowledge what a hard time he has had lately. We have spent a ton of time together while he has been home on sick leave, but sometimes a note and treat are appreciated, you know?
I am super excited that the Wood Textures DSP is sticking around, plus the Linen Thread and Classic Label Punch! I made this simple pouch using the Envelope Punch Board and the bow technique is cool... You take a doubled piece of thread, loop it through both holes of the punched piece and then insert the two ends into the loop and tie a bow.
